Inter-library Loan: Borrow It

Lancaster Bible College is a member of OCLC, a network of libraries that cooperate in the resource sharing of library materials. Interlibrary loan is a cooperative borrowing and lending service among these libraries.

When to Use ILL

Use inter-library loan when:

1. The item is NOT AVAILABLE though LBC

2. You know EXACTLY what material you need.

  • Media type, Full Title, Author(s), journal title, publication date...


How to Request an Item: LBC OneSearch

How to Request an item on OneSearch:

  1. Search LBC OneSearch or other LBC databases to retrieve the item record. Those items not owned be the Jones Library will have the option to "Request the item through Interlibrary Loan."
  2. Fill out the interlibrary loan form completely. Enter the full title of the publication.
  3. Select "Submit" to request the item. The library staff process interlibrary loans daily Monday-Friday

How to Request an Item: WorldCat Discovery

How to Request an item through WorldCat Discovery:

  1. Check the library catalog, since we do not request items the library already owns.
  2. Search WorldCat Discovery for the item using the full title of the publication. 
  3. Under the "availability/holdings" heading, Click on Request Item
  4. Fill out the interlibrary loan form completely.
  5. Select "Submit" to request the item. The library staff process interlibrary loans daily Monday-Friday

Helpful FAQs

Who can use ILL? : This service is available to all students, faculty, staff and alumni of Lancaster Bible College| Capital Seminary & Graduate School. 

How long will it take? : Please allow 3-6 business days for articles to reach you via e-mail and up to two weeks for books to arrive by mail.

Please Remember Inter-Library Loan is an ACADEMIC Service. Personal Non-Academic materials should be requested through the public library. 

Pick Up: 

  • Book/DVD requests, you will receive an email with pick-up instructions.
  • Article requests, you will receive and email with online retrieval instructions.


  • Students, Staff, Faculty and Alumni at Lancaster, Pennsylvania or Washington DC, please drop off the item at the respective library circulation desk.
  • Online students as well as students, staff and faculty at any another location, please follow the instructions included with the item. For questions, email


  • Overdue Items are subject to fines, account blocks, and lost item fees.
  • Overdue reminders are sent as a courtesy, and failure to receive one, for any reason, does not waive your responsibility for meeting dues dates or paying fines.

Renewal requests: 

  • Requests need to be sent to the email below, before the due date.
  • Journal articles need not be returned. For additional questions on interlibrary loans, please email

We are not able to request the following types of items: 

  • Materials already owned by the Charles & Gloria Jones Library
  • Required textbooks
  • Reference books
  • Special collections and archival materials
  • Electronic books
  • Multi-volume sets
  • Complete issues of periodicals

These types of requests will be canceled 

Unfilled Requests:

The libraries that were asked to lend the material to us declined. However, a new request can be made if the item is still needed.
